As
the diagram illustrates, the push sends the ball straight to the right. This is
most certainly caused by the ball being struck with an 'in-to-out' swing.
Unlike a hook, the clubhead is square at impact which means that spin is not
imparted on the ball. This is seen as the ball travelling in a straight line.
This problem is easily overcome by re-examining one's stance.
Ensure that you stand parallel to the ball's intended line of flight. At
address, the ball should be positioned between the left heel and the centre of
the stance.
Most importantly, consistent pushing suggest a lack of
concentration on the part of the golfer as there is no fault in the mechanics
of the swing. Before taking any shot, it is important to go through the set-up
routine. Think about where you want to put the ball, settle yourself with a
mental check, focus, position yourself and then take the shot.
